The Seattle Aquarium found themselves directly at the heart of a fast-revitalizing Seattle waterfront with an extended brand new Ocean Pavilion and the development of an all-new website. The challenge was that (like many institutions) they had evolved organically. The visual identity was thin and inconsistent, and now they had a whole host of new design elements and marine creatures to incorporate into it.
I led the process and creation of building their identity system and a robust guidelines document (their only request being keep their logo). This included a detailed array of real-world applications and examples to ensure that the teams and vendors that represent the Aquarium had the tools they need to bring this brand to life online, in social media, education and in immersive physical spaces as a consistent wholistic experience.
